Jackets Wrestling, Fairview TN

Building Confidence for Life

Jackets Youth Wrestling was established in 2012 out of a love for the sport and a desire to improve wrestling as a whole in our local Fairview community. Our mission is to use wrestling as a tool to build young men and women who are leaders on their team, in their families, and in our community. We do this by teaching Commitment, Perseverance, Courage, Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Citizenship, and Cooperation. We strive to teach our youth that hard work pays off on the mat, in school, and in their relationships with teammates, coaches, family, and teachers.

Wrestling also teaches youth that they can push past their known limits. Youth can then use this knowledge about themselves to succeed and stay committed in all other aspects of life- whether it be their studies, job, or families. We want all of our kids to to believe in themselves enough to compete with their teammates inside the wrestling circle, in addition to carrying that confidence into everything else they do in life.

Meet Info

All Fairview Youth Wrestlers have the option to compete in AAU wrestling meets. Wrestling is a team sport but competition is individual. Outside competition is never forced but is encouraged.

Held on Saturdays or Sundays, optional AAU Meets group kids by age and weight class. These meets allow your son or daughter to compete and gain experience with other youth wrestlers in the area. As a group, we normally stay within 2 hours of our home base here in Fairview, TN.

To better understand how a match is run at a meet, we recommend parents and athletes watch an AAU competition online before competing.

AAU cards are required for both practices and meets.

(Click here to register with AAU. After registration, the Club will provide your card.)

It is the parent’s responsibility to register their child for meets. The tournaments listed on this site are the ones Jackets Wrestling coaches plan on attending.

Registration links will be posted to the tournament schedule here on the website within a week or two before tournament date. Please let coaches know if you plan on attending a tournament, or if you have any questions at all. Coach Matt will have his computer at practice to help you with registration if needed.

Note to Parents: When traveling outside of the Fairview Wrestling room for tournaments and competitions, the children will always stay together and use the buddy system. Additionally, your child will never be left alone to wait for their ride home. They will always be with at least one temmmate and one coach, who will wait with them.

Jeff Moore

Father, Experienced AAU Coach

Growing up in east Texas, I did not get the priviledge of being part of a wrestling community. I was first introduced to the sport of wrestling in 2015 by Coach Jeff Bennett, who talked me into signing up my two boys, who at the time were five year old Kamden, and 6 year old Rylee. I fell in love with the sport from the very first match. I guess you could say the Moore boys started dedicating a lot of time and effort over the past 5 years as I have been the president of our AAU Jackets Club for the past few years, as well as coaching our new wrestlers the fundamentals. Kamden has been a Tennessee regional champion for 2 years, and has gone on to take 4th place at state the last two years. My five year old son Baxter, who is now 7, started wrestling last year and won Tennessee Regional 1st Place Champion as well as 1st place at State. As a coach for baseball over the past six years, and drifting into the wrestling family, it is amazing to watch these kids, your kids, achieve success on their own. I love this sport and would recommend it for all children.

Matthew Ribble

Father, Experienced AAU Wrestler and Coach

Originally a native of Pennsylvania, I have called Nashville, TN home for the past 25 years, with my wife Tessa, daughter Rosemary (WKU), sons Henry (FHS), and Louis (FMS).

I had spent much of my youth with Club and AAU wrestling. When my children were old enough we got involved with the Big Red Wrestling Club at Montgomery Bell Acadamy. I spent the last 10 years running the BRWC at Montgomery Bell. Over those 10 years we did quite a bit of joint work with the Jacket Youth Wrestling Club here in Fairview. We met some great coaches, wonderful kids and solid families. I moved my family and business to Fairview in 2020 and look forward to working with the Jackets Wrestling Club here in Fairview, which has a great community and families.

Motto: You earn your medals during the week at practice. You just go to meets on Saturday to pick them up. Teammates for Life !

Mike Mitchell

Father, Longtime Fairview MS Coach and AAU Coach

My philosophy is to take an individual sport and develop a team mentality for future success. Our goal is to make sure we develop both students and athletes, by working hard and playing hard. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Wrestling is a sport that teaches athletes how to utilize speed strength and balance. While also building and developing character. We want our wrestlers to be as mentally tough as they are physically tough.

2 time PA District 9 champion / 2 time PA Northwest Regional Runner-up / 2 time PA State qualifier / 81-19 career record / went to college on a track scholarship
